Seren Üstündağ holds a BA degree in Turkish Language and Literature from Boğaziçi University (Turkey), an MA degree in History at Istanbul Bilgi University (Turkey) and a second MA degree in Turkish Literature at Bilkent University (Turkey).

She was admitted into PHD-COMP as an FCT scholarship holder (PD/BD/150451/2019). Her research focuses on the relationship between center and periphery, Kurdish and Turkish in the context of World Literature and monolingualism. Her tutor was Professor Fernanda Gil Costa and her work is now supervised by Professor Marta Pacheco Pinto (ULisboa), and Etienne Charrière.
