Helena Carvalhão Buescu is professor of Comparative Literature at the School of Arts and Humanities, University of Lisbon. She got her PhD at the same University in 1988.
She founded and directed the research Centre of Comparative Studies, where she coordinates the Project Comparative World Literature, and belongs to the Board of the Institute of World Literature.
Her main areas of interest are focused on the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as theoretical issues in comparative and world literature.
