Everton V. Machado is an Assistant Researcher at the School of Arts and Humanities, University of Lisbon, where he teaches graduate and undergraduate courses of the Department of Romance Literatures, since 2011. Formerly he has taught Portuguese and Brazilian Literature and Culture at the University of Paris-Sorbonne/Paris IV – where he got his PhD in 2008 – and the University Lumière Lyon 2.
At the Center for Comparative Studies (CEC), he is the coordinator of the collective research project ORION – Portuguese Orientalism. He also conducts the exploratory project “The Portuguese Representations of India: Power and Knowledge in a Peripheral Orientalism (19th and 20th centuries)”.
