Hélder Lopes holds a BA degree in Languages, Literatures and Cultures (English and Spanish) from the School of Arts and Humanities, University of Lisbon, and an MA in Translation Studies (specialisation in English) from Nova University, Lisbon. He worked in the translation and localisation industry in Portugal and the UK, and also in language teaching.
He entered the PhD-COMP programme in 2018/2019 as an FCT scholarship holder (PD/BD/143046/2018). His research focuses on collaborative indirect translation in postcolonial theatre making in Cape Verdean Creole, under the supervision of Professor Reine Meylaerts, Professor Inocência Mata and researcher Marta Pacheco Pinto.
He is a member in training in the Centre for Comparative Studies, where he is part of the MOV research project in the LOCUS group.
